A pair of breathable stretch-mesh socks that slip over your car's rear door frame. No suction cups, no magnets, no adhesive, no drilling. The window still winds down through the mesh.

Cut for upright, rectangular rear windows

Suits Land Rover Defender, Suzuki Jimny, panel vans and older bakkies — windows around 76 × 50 cm.

Why the cloth matters

Most shades in this category are made from roughly 38 gsm tulle — mosquito netting. Ours is a warp-knit polyester and elastane mesh at 95–110 gsm, verified by cut-and-weigh. Two to three times the density, which is what you can see and feel.

What it does

  • Cuts direct sun and glare on the rear seats
  • Airflow with the window down
  • Insect barrier — measured aperture 0.2–0.4 mm
  • Packs flat into a door pocket

What it does not do

We would rather tell you now than have you find out. It is not blackout and it is not a privacy screen — you can see through it, and so can others. We make no UV percentage claim, because we have not tested the fabric we ship. It is not a child-safety device.

Rear windows only

South African road traffic regulations set a minimum light transmission for the windscreen and front side windows. Fit these to rear windows only.

Honest note on fit

The category sells "universal fit". Our own testing shows one size fits an upright rectangular window well and a tapered one badly. That is why we cut three shapes instead of one. Measure your window before choosing.
